Wino Magazine Review

I was lucky enough to see the two main wine guys, Josh & Doug from Wino Magazine, in our tasting room about a month ago. Gave them a tasting & tour and laughed quite a lot! These two are fun and they do know their wine! Our 2005 Cultura Red Wine was put into their "Round Table" review. Here's the linky: http://www.winomagazine.com/blog2/2009/05/round-table-june-09/.

I actually met these two last summer at the Prosser Wine & Art Walk. They had their film crew & were filming the event. Check out their print magazine, can be found at various locations all over the state-I found mine at Sutra restaurant while delivering wine. Even better, you can subscribe and it will get to you via your mailbox. And go to their on-line magazine: http://www.winomagazine.com. Great stuff!

Debuts & Discoveries Event

On June 25th, we poured our wine at David LeClaire's "Debuts & Discoveries" event. This event showcased the newest Washington state wineries. David's website link for more info about his events: http://www.vinolover.com.
The Seattle weather was perfect and the wines were great. What more can I say, life was good that day!

Bio-Fewel: The next generation of fuel.

I am so proud of my hubby! He was on the front page of our local paper, Yakima Herald, this week. As some of you know from our website, my husband Tad makes bio-diesel for use on our ranches and vineyards. Here is the link to the article:
www.yakima-herald.com/stories/2009/06/14/home-brewed-biodiesel. Tad has been making this fuel out of used vegetable oil for a couple of years. Although, it is a lot a hard work, it is very gratifying. He does get dirty doing it-not fun on laundry day. I know for a fact! But the payoff is so worth it. If you have any questions about bio diesel, feel free to leave a comment for us or visit the "Bio-Fewel Crew" at the tasting room.

Ramseyer's Vineyards Open House

We attended our friends new winery's open house a couple of weeks ago. The Ramseyer family bought property here in the Zillah area a few years ago. They planted a small vineyard, with plans to expand in the future. Cabernet Sauvignon is there mainstay and they have done a great job with it. And if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some of their wine, enjoy it, as the vintages are very small. What a great day in Zillah it was: sun, food, wine, and friends. What more could you ask for? Check out their website: www.ramseyervineyards.com.

Harbor Club-Bellevue Winemaker Dinner

We were invited to the Harbor Club (www.harborclubs.org) in Bellevue, WA. on May 1st for an evening of wine tasting paired with delicious appetizers, dinner, and friendship. We were the featured winery for their "First Friday's" dinner. Thank you, Otto (club manager) and Carol (wine council). What a wonderful evening! The menu on the left was just for the appetizers, so you can just imagine what the dinner was like. Exquisite! Kudos to the Harbor Club chef! On another note, Carol owns a cooking school in Bellevue called "Sizzleworks" (www.thesizzleworks.com). If you are in Bellevue, do make a point to stop in and try a class or two, so much fun!

Canine & Wine Walk - Was Great!

Sorry it's been so long, we finally got a new camera to take blogging pictures with. We will be blogging about once a week on what is going on with our wines, what's happening in the vineyard, what we're drinking with dinner, events, etc.

Thanks for hanging in there with us. We'll call this our very "first official" blog:

We had a great day in the valley this weekend.
Cherrywood Bed Breakfast and Barn (www.cherrywoodbbandb.com) held their first annual canine and wine walk. We walked rescue dogs and drank wine along the way at different wineries. All the proceeds went to various dog rescues. What a fun event!

OK, now were ready to test this baby out. We'll be writing in the next couple of days. There is a lot happening in the always beautiful Yakima Valley. We will be posting pics of the vineyards, talking about our wines, Yakima wines, good food, family & friends. So follow the cult, Cultura Wine!

Cheers, Sarah

March is roaring in like a lion in the valley. The weather here in Zillah has been windy, warm, a few rain showers, and did I say warm? This winter seems like it has been particularity long. We are so happy to see the sun!
