Spring has Sprung!

March is roaring in like a lion in the valley. The weather here in Zillah has been windy, warm, a few rain showers, and did I say warm? This winter seems like it has been particularity long. We are so happy to see the sun!

Along with the awaking vineyards that surround us, we are coming out from the long winter hibernation. We are "springing up" for the many spring wine events that are happening here in Washington state. The first event of the season, we will be pouring at is the Taste of Washington in Seattle. This is our first time attending and we have heard that is always a grand time! Here is the information for the event (info. courtesy of Washington Wine Commission):

2009 Spring Barrel Tasting in the Yakima Valley

Besides enjoying the predictably sunny weather in eastern Washington, barrel-tasting weekend is an opportunity to gain insight into the artistic process behind the production at each winery.

April 24 - 26, 2009 10:00am - 5:00pm

Spring Barrel tasting is your chance to get a jump on tasting and purchasing some of the best wines in wine country. A visit to the Valley on this weekend will allow you to sample yet-unfinished wines from the barrel.

We will be participating in a new event for this Spring Barrel Weekend: Tailgating with the Thirty-something Winemakers with fellow neighboring wineries: Two Mountain Winery and Severino Cellars. Here is the information for this event (info. courtesy Wine Yakima Valley): Date and Time - Friday, April 24, 2009, 5:30pm Location: Beginning location – Two Mountain Winery

After a relaxing day of wine tasting, sit and learn with three “thirty-something” winery owners of the Yakima Valley. Your evening will include a vineyard tour (weather permitting), wines and heavy appetizers at each winery stop. Your progressive tour and sampling will include Two Mountain Winery and their estate, Copeland Vineyard, Cultura Winery, and Severino Cellars.

Your evening will include a tour of Copeland Vineyard where you will learn about the wine grapes and the growing region of the Yakima Valley appellation. Next, enjoy a visit to Two Mountain Winery where you will taste the final product from the vineyard. Next stop is an intimate tour of the farm, cute Cultura Winery, and finally a visit to Severino Cellars, one of the Valley’s newest wineries housed in a 100-year-old farm house.
